Lee Roy Selmon's story combines football scholarship for his family as well as service in the local community. The first time Selmon was raised by Lucious as well as Jessie Selmon. They lived on a farm near Eufala in Oklahoma as one of the nine children they had. Also, he was one of three siblings that represented Oklahoma in football. The three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was one of the top linemen in the entire nation. In his three years as the team's starter, Oklahoma finished 32-1-1 and won two national championships. As a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon received an award for his third year in 1975. Selmon earned a degree in Education. Lee Roy's fourth service included ten hours per week of volunteer time in the college. After college, he moved to Tampa and played nine seasons for the Buccaneers. He was an All-Pro 3 times. He then began his career. In 1988, as an account liaison officer for First Florida Bank of Tampa He was a member of the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder that Lee Roy was honored when the Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as one of the top 10 young men in the country. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in height and weighed 256 pounds in his college days. He played for the team of 1975. In 1993, he was a part of the University of South Florida as the associate director of athletics. In 1988, Selmon was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. The same year, he also was a part of an appearance in the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave the Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented it.
