Taylor
Taylor Swift may be the most unusual of pop stars: an artist who could successfully cross the divide between pop and country music while sweeping the globe. Swift left her heritage in the country genre like a second skin, and revealed that she was the most refined pop sensibility in her time. Swift was the only singer/songwriter who knew how to follow the zeitgeist of popular music when she went on tour. It was apparent from her first songs, especially on the neo tribute to Tim McGraw. On her second release Fearless (2008) Swift showed a songwriter getting to know her. Fearless went on to become a global hit, not only in the United States (where it earned with six platinum awards for Top Ten Hits Love Story and "You Belong with Me") as well as in Canada Australia and the U.K. and other countries. Swift's next album, Speak Now, released almost two years after the first one, consolidated the success of this album. It propelled Swift into the spotlight. Through her next three albums, Red (2012) 1989 (2004) and Reputation (2017) Reputation (2017), her popularity increased and she became part of the world of pop music where it was clear that she deserved to be. When she reduced her sound by releasing stripped-down albums like 2020, folklore and Evermore but she was still in the top spot. This position was maintained by re-recordings from her past catalog as in Midnights which was her chart-topping synth heavy 2022 album.
