Anita Sarkeesian (Canadian-American) is an activist in the field of feminist media as well as a public speaker, and Canadian. Feminist Frequency is a web site with video and an online blog looking at the portrayals of female characters in popular culture. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American media critic and blog writer who has been awarded prizes for her work, is an activist blogger. Feminist Frequency is a site for education that examines women's roles in pop culture narratives It is the brainchild of Anita Sarkeesian. Additionally, she serves as the director of operations. Alongside working to highlight the problems surrounding the harassment and targeted attack on women and as well as other minorities, she is dedicated to breaking down the stigmas and stereotypes prevalent in popular culture. Sarkeesian has a degree in social thought and politics at York University. She is also an internationally acclaimed public speaking. Sarkeesian delivered speeches to the TEDxWomen XOXO Festival and United Nations Broadband Working Group. Interested in issues concerning gender identities and feminisms from at an early age, she created her website Feminist Frequency in 2009, while still a student at the University. This ambitious woman planned to create an online series on gender representation in games, and was then the victim of an online campaign to harass her. The woman was not stopped from the attack, and in fact it only reinforced her drive to become an expert on media and feminism. Her many notable contributions in the field of feminist have been recognized by numerous prizes. Anita Sarkeesian, a media critic who has won numerous awards and created Feminist Frequency as an educational non-profit that examines the way women are depicted in the popular culture stories.
