Selena Marie Gomez, /s@'li?n@ /goUmez/s@-LEEn@ GOHmez, was born July 22, 1992. She is an American performer, actress and producer. Gomez began her acting career on the television show for children called Barney & Friends (2002-2004). She rose to fame as Alex Russo, a teenage actor in the Disney Channel television show Wizards of Waverly Place (2007-12). Gomez was also participant in the television series Another Cinderella Story (2008) and Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie 2009, Ramona and Beezus (2010) and Spring Breakers 2012, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (2016). In 2019, she will appear in The Dead Don't Die (2018). Gomez was also the voice of Mavis in Hotel Transylvania's film franchise from 2012 until 2022. Gomez was the executive producer of Netflix's 13 Reasons Why (2017-2020) and Undocumented (2018). Undocumented (2018) through July Moon Productions. Gomez is also the executive producer and is a star in the HBO Max cooking series Selena + chef (2020-2022) as well as the Hulu mystery comedy series Only Murders in the Building (21-21). Gomez received praise from critics about the series in addition to nominations for a Golden Globe Award and a Primetime Emmy Award as producer.
Gomez released three albums with her former band, Selena Gomez & the Scene, all of which reached the top ten of the US Billboard 200 and were certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA): Kiss & Tell (2009), A Year Without Rain (2010), and When the Sun goes down (2011). Her debut album as a solo artist, Stars Dance (2013) was a top album on the U.S. Billboard 200, and its first single "Come & Get It" made it to the top ten on the US Billboard Hot 100. Gomez has released Revival (2015) the second studio album. The album was released at the top spot in the US and was certified platinum. Three top ten US entries were created out of Revival: "Good for You", the "Same Old Love" single as well as "Hands to Myself". Rare (2020) is her third studio album, was her third straight top-ten album in the US. Its lead single, "Lose You To Love Me", was her first top-ten single in both the US and Canada. In 2021, she debuted the EP in Spanish Revelacion and received a nomination for the Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album. The singer has been recognized with numerous awards and was named Billboard's Women of the Year in 2017, and she also broke 15 Guinness World Records. Time magazine named her one of the top 100 influential people around the globe in 2020. Her social media following is huge and she is the most popular actor and musician on Instagram. Gomez has also launched perfume, makeup and handbag collections. From the age of 17 she has been an UNICEF ambassador and has worked with numerous charities.
